Other methods
The training department of the centre directs its efforts chiefly towards groups that desire to re-examine aspects of discrimination and exclusion, interculturality and diversity, in relation to their professions. Thanks to exercises and practice sessions, participants are able to have time for introspection and reflect on how they function or operate in the light of these themes. Each module is tailored to the specific context and objectives of the client.
Addressing a group can in fact take various forms, depending on the nature and subject matter of your request, the group size and the amount of time allocated to that end.
Here follows an overview of the various methods of work the Centre for Equal Opportunities and Opposition to Racism has on offer.
Information
An employee of the Centre provides general information on the activities of the Centre or on its themes to a group, upon request. This could take place within the framework of a campaign, for instance.
Target group: All target groups. Unlimited number of participants
Duration: generally limited to a few hours.
Explanation and lectures
Because of his/her expertise, an employee may be asked to make a contribution to discussions on a specific topic, during a debate, a conference or colloquium organised by an external institution of organisation.
Target group: target audience and number of participants are determined by the organiser.
Duration: generally limited to a few hours.
Workshops
An employee assumes the role of expert or coach for a group of people/participants brought together by the organiser, for the purpose of analysing a specific theme and engaging in an exchange of ideas and thoughts. The exchange is interactive by nature and clearly different from a normal explanation or lecture.
Target group: groups of no more than 15 participants.
Duration: generally limited to half a day
Raising awareness
Raising awareness is an interactive exchange whereby the exchange of information remains a key priority.
An employee shares his/her expertise with a bearing on the specific field of the applicant/client. The content or substance of the exchange is tailored to the target audience and can be rehearsed by means of cases or applications.
Target group: Homogeneous public and limited number of participants.
Duration: generally 1 to 2 days.
Training
At the request of a client, the trainers set to work with persons who intend to reflect on the exercise of their professions, on aspects of discrimination and exclusion, on interculturality and diversity and what is required to that end. Through exercises and practice sessions, participants have time for introspection and reflect on how they function or operate, and evaluate this in the light of the daily practice of their profession.
Each module is tailored to the specific context and objectives of the client.
Target group: generally geared towards a homogeneous public (per professional group or organisation), with approximately fifteen participants.
Duration: 1 to 5 days.
